Czech Society for Cybernetics and Informatics (CSKI), whose mission includes development of cybernetics and informatics in the Czech Republic and support of pedagogical activities in related fields, announces the national competition Antonín Svoboda Award for the best Ph.D. thesis.

Competition rules

  1. The topic of PhD thesis falls within the scope of ČSKI's scientific activities (cybernetics, informatics, related fields).
  2. The thesis was defended in 2023 at a faculty located in the Czech Republic.
  3. The submitted applications will be evaluated by the committee of experts nominated by the ČSKI Council.
  4. The evaluation process has two rounds.
  5. In the first round the committee selects finalists and publishes their names on the website of Antonín Svoboda Award.
  6. In the second round the committee selects the Award winner. The committee reserves the right to divide the Award among more applicants or not to select a winner.
  7. The winner will present the thesis at the annual ČSKI General Meeting, where she/he will be awarded with diplomas (for her/him and her/his thesis advisor) and a cash award of 25 000 Kc.

Submission procedure

  1. Download, fill in and sign the application form.
  2. Submit scanned application form through the EasyChair system (select "New Submission"; the submission name must be the title of the thesis).
  3. Send the following documents to ssimbero@asu.cas.cz:
    1. The thesis in PDF format (together with all the attachments) and/or send a link where all documents are sited.
    2. All reviews of the thesis + supervisor's opinion.
    3. A structured CV together with the list of selected publications.

  • Quality and originality of the thesis
  • Theoretical or practical contribution
  • Professional profile of the applicant
